Parks of Cherokee County in Canton GA and Woodstock GA

The local towns within southern Cherokee County, Georgia have a wide variety of parks and recreational areas to take advantage of. These are some local favorites as described by your Canton GA Chiropractor.

Etowah River Park

Starting in Canton, Etowah River Park is one of the newest and biggest additions to the city. Located right off Exit 19 from Hwy 575, the park is at the bottom of Brown Industrial Parkway. Many races, festivals, and events are held at this park throughout the year including the Wings and Rock festival in March. The city has planned this park to accommodate large amounts of people and make easy access for crowds. There is plenty of parking onsite for regular daily use and extended parking areas just within a short shuttle-ride for larger events. The park contains miles of paved and rough trails to be used for running, walking, or jogging. It has an area that leads down to the river and also sides right on the side of the railroad track. There is a brand new large playground for the children with three separate areas for them to enjoy starting from toddlers and leading up to young teens. A new addition is an amphitheater area where audio-visual equipment can be set up for hosting events and starting/finishing areas for races. There is a fully functional restroom pavilion with a family restroom and multiple covered sitting areas. Several large fields make up this park that can be used for football, soccer, golf, frisbee, and simply letting the kids run around. There are several pavilions that can be rented out for birthday parties and special occasions.

Cannon Park

Also in Canton in the downtown historic Cannon Park. Cannon Park is situation right in the middle of downtown Canton on Main Street, and has several sitting areas as well as friendly access for people or activity watching. JB Owens park is located on Hickory Rd just near the Harmony on the Lakes neighborhood and has a brand new playground, three pavilions for rental, hiking and walking and running trails through the woods, as well as an elliptical paved track area to enjoy with or without pets. The park is very dog friendly and provides waste bags for pickup. The trails through the woods provide a great opportunity to get out into nature while still being right close to home. Hickory Trails Park is another local trail system park that provides paths through the woods for running, walking, and dog exercise.

Boling Park

Boling Park is yet another Canton park that provides open green space to provide for sports activities, events, and parties. It is located near the downtown area of Canton, but just far enough away to not interfere with downtown traffic. Sequoya Park offers a disc golf course and also contains several of the larger softball and baseball fields in the local area. Many of the local sports team use this park as their home facility and the disc golf course provides one of the few places in the area for this sport.

In addition to the local parks are many, many golf courses including Bradshaw Farm, Woodmont, Canton Golf Club, Bridgemill Athletic Club, Callahan Golf Links, and Fairways of Canton. To the south of Canton is Woodstock which provides even more golfing and public parks areas such as Towne Lake Hills Golf Club, Cherokee Golf Center, and Eagle Watch Golf Club. Included in the Woodstock public parks are Olde Rope Mill Park, JJ Biello Park, Dupree Park, and Woofstock Dog Park.

Further around in the area, the town of Milton contains many new parks as well. For hiking, walking, hosting parties, taking the dogs out, picnicking, playing sports, or enjoying the myriad festivals and events, the public parks of Cherokee County in the Canton and Woodstock area are not to be missed.
